Kabob Village is an Egyptian food truck serving up some tasty sandwiches and shawarma. There are a ton of kabob trucks in DC, and sometimes I get tired of one, so I like to try another.
I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich, although it was less of a sandwich and more of a pita wrap (I didn't mind). The sandwich is served with lettuce, tomato, green peppers, and onions. The chicken was really well seasoned, and the hit of fresh cilantro was a nice touch. I chose to get tzatziki sauce on mine, and it was a delicious, cooling element to a sandwich filled with rich spices and crunchy vegetables. The pickles were a little out of place, but I generally dig pickles, so I just ate them on their own.
I didn't lose my mind over this sandwich, but I was definitely satisfied. Many food trucks skimp on portions or take absolutely forever to serve you. Kabob Village did neither - it was a healthy portion for a good price, served up quickly. Check out their Twitter to find out when they're in your neighborhood.
